UPGRADING SHAREPOINT 2010 WORKFLOWS TO SHAREPOINT 2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have workflows designed originally using SharePoint Designer 2010.  The company plans on hiring a third-party to migrate from SP 2010 to SP 2013 On-Premise; then SP 2013 On-Prem to SP 2016 On-Prem; finally from SP 2016 On-Prem to SP 2019 On-Prem.

There are workflows that were designed using SP Designer 2010.  Will they be able to be upgraded?  Is there a SP Designer 2019 for On-Premise versions?

  • Hi,

SharePoint 2010 workflows are also supported in SharePoint 2019. 2010 Workflows are stored in content databases. You just need to backup, restore the database then attach it.

However, there will not be a new SharePoint Designer client. Microsoft will ensure that SharePoint Designer 2013 will work with SharePoint Server 2019 for the remainder of the client support lifecycle (2026). SharePoint Designer 2013 will not be supported beyond that timeframe.

    Best Regards,
