WSS_Content database is full?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • while uploading a document today i faced following error

Sorry Something Went Wrong The URL xxxxxxxx is invalid. it may refer to nonexistent file or folder.......................................

with the help of ULS log

i figured out that WSS_Content database is full which has limit of 10Gb.

Is there a way to increase the WSS_Content database limit in Microsoft SQL Express 2012.

or is there any way that i can reduce its size though i have already deleted about 500 documents (of about 3GBspace) from different document  libraries but still it is showing

    Size: 10388.12 MB

    Space Available : 0.24 MB

  • well i figured out the solution

Sharepoint 2013 has two level of recycle bin.

    1. One is  under site contents.

    2. Other one under top level site -> Site Collection Administration->RecycleBin

In order to free space from DataBase One has to delete from both recyclebins. And in longer run one should migrate from MS SQL EXPRESS to MS SQL ENTERPRISE . I also tried shrinking the database but was of no use.
