Server 2019 - Unable to add computers to DC RRS feed

  • Question

  • Thanks in advance for assisting.

    I recently migrated a Sercer 2008 R2 DC only to a new Server 2019.

I think I did something wrong somewhere in the process. I am unable to add computers to the domain. And I get a File Replication error 1053, 4012, 13575, 1202, DFSR and, NtFrs status Stopped anytime I try to start it. I see this in the server manager dashboard.

How do I resolve these issues?

  • Windows Server 2019 does not support NTFrs for the SYSVOL replication.

When you have created your AD Domain, it was probably running in a Domain Functional Level lower than 2008.  In that case, the SYSVOL replication is using NTFrs.

Before migrate to Windows Server 2019 (Domain Controller), you must migrate the NTFrs service to DFSR.

This can be done easily by following these steps

For the issue you currently have, do you still have your Windows 2008 DC ?

If yes, you could remove the 2019 DC, complete a metadata cleanup of the 2019 DC, migrate the NTFrs to DFSR migration and then add the 2019 DC in your domain.

I no longer have the 2008 as a DC.

I will try the suggestion via the link in your reply and send feedback please.
