MDT & ChassisType = 31

  • Our MDT (2013 Update 2) is failing to identify new models of convertible laptops which have begun introduction of the new standards for ChassisType whereby 1Fh (31) is defined as 'Convertible'.

We'd like this value to fall within the IsLaptop = True variable within MDT.

Is there a hotfix or script edit which can achieve this?  Thanks.

  • Suggest trying the latest version of MDT (8443).  If not, maybe 8443 will see that as a tablet instead of a laptop so you could try the ISTablet variable.

  • This was driving me nuts.

Looks like all you need to do is add chassis type 31 to the cases that will set a IsLaptop=True in ZTIGather.wsf.

I hate editing microsoft's scripts, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

  • Hi.  Have just been deploying Windows 10 Enterprise 1703 to an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 DM 35W and found that IsDesktop=TRUE does not work for it.  Am using MDT (8443).   Get chassistype and it is classed as "35"....not the usual "3".  have added "35" to ZTIGather.wsf and will see how it goes.
