Error install Exchange 2013 SP1 on Windows 2012 Datacenter RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I run Exchange Setup, the process is interrupted with the following error:

    ################################################## #####
Step 1 of 8: Mailbox role: Transport service
    Error:
    The following error was generated when "$ error.Clear ();
install-ExsetdataAtom -AtomName SMTP -DomainController $ RoleDomainController

"was run:" An error occurred with error code '2147950639' and message 'A constraint violation occurred.'. ".
    ################################################## #####

There was no error in schema and domain preparation and IPv6 is enabled.
I need help to solve this problem, I have researched in several forums but to no avail.
    Thank you.

  • Hi

Exchange 2013 SP1 is no longer supported, please use the latest CU or one behind the latest.

If you disable IPv6, make sure its not just un-ticking the checkbox on the properties of the server, you need to use the following reg key and then reboot for it to take effect:

    reg add hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip6\parameters /v DisabledComponents /t REG_DWORD /d 0xFF /f

Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • First please disable ipv6 and then try. Check if you have all ports open to AD server and firewall is disabled. Also verify the exchange server site AD server is a global catalog.

  • Thanks for the feedback.
AD and Exchange are on the same network and there is no firewall between them. The AD is global catalog.
I disabled IPv6, the Windows Firewall service, and restarted the server. I run the setup again and presented the same error.
Note: I followed the Exchange Deployment Assistant step-by-step error-free up to this point.

  • Hi,

You can also check the setup log and post errors here. As Edward suggested, install the latest version like CU21 to see if the issue persists.
