    Question

  • We have one user who keeps getting a faulty application error in Excel.

I have tried many different things to try and resolve the issue.  I have ran the repair on office.  I have remove printer drivers and changed default printers.  I have removed the add ins in excel and I yesterday I uninstalled and the re installed office and re-added all the patches.  The user continues to get the error below.  Any suggestions?

  • Hi,

According to your description, please follow the “Start Excel in Safe mode”, “Additional troubleshooting” and “Corruption in the registry keys” sections in the article below to see if it can be helpful:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/280504

If it doesn't work, can you please test if the issue can be reproduced on other client with the same user account?

If not, we can consider performing a clean boot in Windows and new Windows profile:

  • Thanks Rex for the replies.  The user has actually been out of town.  So far since I have done the reinstall of office he has not had the issue.  I will hopefully be able to get to the pc on Tuesday next week and give an update.

    Thank again!

  • Hello,

we have a similar problem on our Citrix-TS with the same entry in the eventlog. When a user safes a file after working with it, excel crashes. This problem is on all TS. We deleted the userprofil an generated a new one - without success.
Where can I find additional debug-infos. The eventlog is not meaningful enough.  Have Excel a debug-mode with extended loglevel?

    Thanks
