SharePoint 2010 - Which Office App to use with it (2003-2010)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We Have SharePoint 2007 and will hopefully be upgrading to 2010 soon.  We have a mixture of desktops with Office 2003 (40%), 2007 (50%) and 2010 (10%).  I have been asked the question of why should we upgrade Office and need to find the Sharepoint benefits between the 3 version listed, can anyone advise me on this as I'm sure 2010 is the best one, but I'm sure 2007 has good features and I'm sure 2003 is useless :)

    Thanks

  • You're asking this in the wrong forum as this isn't the 2010 forums so I'll provide as agnostic a response I can before Mike or another moderator moves this to the correct Location.

Microsoft authored a white paper for SharePoint 2007 detailing the backwards compatability for different versions of Office.  I believe that this has been updated somewhat.  You'll find a few useful references here: -

As an aside, I believe Office 2003 is now outside of its product support window, so your drivers for updating this may not rest entirely with SharePoint.
