Can't Install 'Creative WebCam Vista' on Windows 7 RC 64-bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • The original driver that comes with the camera is incompatible with 64 bit system - however this is what the message sais when I try to install it. Had the same problem with beta - there is no driver on creative site because they do not sell it anymore - how can I get the needed one ??

  • Do you have the Creative CD with drivers?
    What model name/number is it?

I had to install the old drivers from the Creative CD in compatibility mode for Win XP.
The newer drivers from Creative would not work even though they were Vista drivers.

  • I have the same problem with 2 other usb webcams. Can't install them on the Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 64 bit. No drivers for them.
Any generic driver that can solve the problem?

  • Thanks for the info. Actually I'm using the Silverline USB web cam and I just can't make it work.
Any way to clean up the drivers that are not working and start from the beginning?

  • Go into Device Manager Right-Click on the device and Click Uninstall.

I would highly suggest you run ____-cleaner to get rid off all traces of the driver from the registry.
Just Search for CCLEANER on Google.

If you have never cleaned your registry it may find hundreds to thousands of needless registry entries.
