edb to pst tool RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are using small business edition of exchange, we have 20 users who are using it. We are unable to mount the database, it gives ERROR: database was not shutdown cleanly (dirty shutdown) .

I tried to repair it using eseutil but the resultant file is only 200MB. While the real database size is around 6GB. I have found a utility http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/Exchange-Server-Data-Recovery.html . Its showing almost all the data of my priv1.edb database file. Is there any free utility like this for this purpose?

  • Nothing really free. Not sure if eval copies are available.

    For you particular issue. See:

Restoring from backup is always preferred to running eseutil /p .

  • Agreed, I prefer Ontrack Powercontrols but its not free.  If you have a good backup then this will save you the money and you can restore your data.

  • Never used Digiscope but would be interested in MVP license to test it and see what differs from Ontrack's software.  Ping me offline at jcoliverjr@hotmail.com. Thanks.

  • Hello dear,

Before 3 days I was also facing dirty shutdown error in my exchange server and after searching a lot I had found that there was no free utility was available in the market for the handling the situation

A dirty shutdown can usually be resolved via eseutil.

  • Corruption of Exchange Server Database is a common phenomenon nowadays. These can be due to virus, hardware problems and many other reasons as well. To repair the EDB's from such attacks, I can recommend you Exchange Server Repair Toolbox which repairs corrupt EDB in fraction of seconds. It also does the export of mails from EDB to PST, Live Exchange Server or Office 365. To know other features refer to http://www.exchangeserver.repairtoolbox.com/

  • Even Microsoft doesn't provide any free converter tool.

  • The easiest method would be using third party EDB to PST Converter application as you only need EDB file which is to be converted and the rest can be done easily using the tool which will guide you through the steps with its easy to use interface. One such solution is available to download from http://www.filerepairtools.com/convert-edb-to-pst.html

The second method is to run mailbox export commands, you can only try this if you have very good knowledge of Exchnage Server as a simple mistake while running the commands could damage the Exchange server database. The step by step guide to export  file to pst is mentioned here in the http://www.filerepairtools.com/tips/how-to-export-exchange-2013-mailboxes-to-pst/

I suggest you to make a copy of database first if you are going to try any of the above method.

  • Manually edb to pst extraction is too hard and complicated job..if you use any third party tool for converting edb mailboxes to pst mailbox then you can save lots of your valuable time.. we know a tool which provide effective and low cost product for exchange mailbox migration , this company offers free edb to pst demo version tool for evaluation purposes..

You can test its demo tool and see the possibility of edb mailbox migration your self... get this tool from http://www.convertemail.com/edb-to-pst.html

  • Mark once again not only is your product junk, your stealing my words and attempting to pass them off as your own.  Your exactly the kind of vendor I was speaking about when I wrote these words.   Nothing but a  thief, attempting to sell a horrible product....   At least have the decency to write your own content, sheesh

  • ExMerge is a decent tool, however A: it only works against a production database, i.e. it cannot open a raw EDB file and B: last supported version was Exchange 2003 and there was a workaround to allow it to work on 2007 but after that it will not work
