Several computers on network suddenly running chkdsk on every reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had several computers on the network start having an old problem of running chkdsk on every reboot.  I followed the process to try to clear the problem:

From command prompt (running as admin) fsutil dirty query c:  Shows disk is dirty

run chkntfs /x c: to stop sutochk on next boot

    rebooted

again in command prompt (as admin) chkdsk c: /r

booted and let it run for 2+ hours as it rebooted saw message that disk was clean!

after logging in from command prompt ran fsutil dirty query c: and it said the disk was dirty again.  Reran the whole process and same results.

OS is Windows 7 pro 32 bit
Various systems including HP desktops and laptops. Software includes Office apps, Kaspersky AV, and other common PC apps.

The problem seems to be growing.

    This started this week.

    Help.
