SharePoint 2010: The product key could not be validated. Check the error logs for details RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone,

I need help desperately.  Our SharePoint 2010 Enterprise server trial period has expired.  We just purchased the production key last week in hoping that it will upgrade and let us continue on.

However when I tried to enter the enterprise setup key through Central Admin\Convert License Type, I got the error message above.  I have searched the web for the last couple days and have tried a few suggestions but it didn't work.  Please advise.

Is our Serial number is not valid or what I have to do. To help you, following list contains all installed Patch Status:-

  • Try one of these two pages:

    $CAUrl = (Get-spwebapplication -includecentraladministration | where {$_.IsAdministrationWebApplication}).Url
    $UpgradePage = $CAUrl + "_admin/SkuUpgrade.aspx"
    $UpgradePage

    $CAUrl = (Get-spwebapplication -includecentraladministration | where {$_.IsAdministrationWebApplication}).Url
    $UpgradePage = $CAUrl + "_admin/Conversion.aspx"
    $UpgradePage
That should give you two different pages to enter a Product Key, one might work as they behave differently.

  • Did you checked the log files?

Did you checked whether internet is available on the server to validate the key?
