Run Dashboard Designer Fails with Authentication Error

    Question

  • Hi all,

I am very new to SharePoint and I've not been able to find a similar post, my apologies if this is a duplicate.

We have a development server running the following -

    OS - Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

    SQL - SQL 2008 R2

    SharePoint - SharePoint 2010

    Users attempt the following -

    ·          Browse to the website

    ·          Mouse over ‘Build and Share Reports’

    ·          Click ‘Start using PerformancePoint Services’

    ·          Click ‘Run Dashboard Designer’

At this point the ‘Launching Application’ window appears and runs for a short period of time.

It then comes back with the error ‘Cannot retrieve application. Authentication error’.

I have tried running the above on the server itself and have the same problem.

I have also tried running to the website from a virtual machine which is not affected by our proxy server. I would be most grateful for any suggestions you can provide..

The error log details are listed below –
