External SIP Domain Pointed to Another Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • have a customer who has a primary SIP domain of company.com. They may soon lose direct control of the external DNS records for company.com and so any future change to those records may take 24 or more hours to complete. That makes them a bit uneasy, so as far as the Lync Edge server is concerned, is this scenario workable?

Point the SRV record (sipfederationtls....) to another domain, such as company2.com. Since they will be in control of the DNS records for company2.com, they can change them as needed. Company2.com is not currently in their topology, so would it need to be added as a SIP domain and the Edge server redone with company2.com for SIP/AVEdge/WebConf or can they still use the name of company.com? My guess is they would need to add company2.com as a SIP domain, change the Edge topology to include that name and then get a new SSL cert for it. Correct?

  • Hi Vegas577,

Welcome to post in our forum.

Yes, you are right, you need to add company2.com as a sip domain and then change the Edge topology to include that name, after you change the SIP domain, you need to run Step2: Setup or Remove Lync Server Components with Lync Server Deployment Wizard.

Hope this reply is helpful to you.
