Outlook 2003 Problems Sending/Receiving messages! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I use outlook 2003 on my business computer and recently I have been having problems sending and receiving messages!  I think that i have started to receive some messages now but every time I try and send a message it comes up as an error that reads:

    "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error.  If the problem persists, restart outlook."

    I have restarted outlook several times and my computer several times but it still doesn't seem to fix the problem.

    Please Advise!

  • Can you repro this issue in Outlook Safe Mode?
    Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
    (note the space in the command)

    If it works now, your issue is most likely caused by an add-in.
    Which add-ins do you have installed?

    Disable them all and see if the issue still occurs. If not, you can enable them one-by-one to find the culprit. For details see;

    Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook? Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you'd still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus scanner. For more details see;

    Additionally, you could try renaming the srs-file of your mail profile.
