Office SharePoint Server Event ID 7082 Error

  • Hi Guys,

We've got a SharePoint environment consisting of a database server, application server and web server. The details are as below:

    Database Server
    SQL Standard 2008 SP1 x64

    Application Server
    Windows Server 2008 R2
    SharePoint 2007 SP2 x64
    Central Administration
    Index Role

    Web Server
    Windows Server 2008 R2
    SharePoint 2007 SP2 x64
    Central Administration
    Query Role

Everything functions correctly(e.g: search works, logging works) but we keep getting a recurring error on our application log as below (this is on our application server):

    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        Office SharePoint Server
    Date:          14/03/2010 10:40:12 PM
    Event ID:      7082
Task Category: Office Server Shared Services
    Level:         Error
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
An unexpected error occurred while refreshing the shared object manager cache.

Reason: A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)

We've taken the steps below so far:

Verified that farm account has the required privileges on all 3 servers.
Executed stsadm updatefarmcredentials, although we did not change the accounts or passwords.
Verified that SharePoint patch level is the same on both server.
Verified that the required accounts do belong to the WSS_Admin_WPG and WSS_WPG groups.
Verified that the SQL port is established and listening.
Verified that there are no issues with connection between the 3 servers.

We aren't very sure on what else we could be looking out for or checking? And the error continues to re-occur. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,

  • Hi Harish,

Do these type of errors occur about the same time the SQL backups are scheduled to run? Usually this is the case when SharPoint cant contact the SQL server..

  • Hi Ivan,

I'm not 100% sure, but that's a very good point. Will look into this and verify. Thanks very much for the suggestion.

  • Hi Harish,

What is your SQL server’s operation system version?

In order to resolve this issue first upgrade the NIC to the latest drivers and then disable the following NIC card settings, then check the effect.

    TCP Chimney Offload

    Receive Side Scaling (RSS)

    Network Direct Memory Access (NetDMA)

For more information about how to disable these settings, please refer to the following articles:

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thanks for your help, by pointing us in the right direction we got this resolved. It was actually (wait for it) our VM ESX Server that was performing backups at the particular times that these errors get thrown. All ok now, cheers for the help.

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi Harish,

So are you saying it is okay for these errors to occur?

  • Hi Harish,

What steps did you take to resolve this issue? I am facing a similar problem where these errors (EventID 27745, 3355, 7082) are occurring everyday when the legato backup starts.
