#550 5.1.3 STOREDRV.Submit; invalid recipient address #SMTP#

    Question

  • Hi Support,

    Here is the issue:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

    'jmg@jason.com.sg.'
The format of the recipient's e-mail address isn't valid. A valid address looks like this: username@contoso.com. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try sending the message again, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator.

  • Hi Bryan,

The e-mail address given by you have dot(.) at the end, so it will be regarded as an invalid e-mail address.

An e-mail address is a string of a subset of ASSCII characters separated by 2 parts by an “@”,  a “local-part” and a domain, that is, local part@ domain.

Domain are made of non-empty labels separated by dots(.), so you cannot attach dots at the end of the domain, it will assume an empty label follow by dot(.).

The following documents can help you have a further view about the format of the e-mail address.

    http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5322 (mostly section 3.4.1)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASCII

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At_sign

    http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1034

    Best regards,

    yang
