Is it recommended to hide Site and Page header in Modern UI? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    In order to stay align with branding design, we require to hide following components in modern UI:

    1. ms-compositeHeader-mainLayout ( Site logo and Title area)
    2. pageTitle_ID ( Page title area )

    Are there any impacts on modern UI apart from the space removal if we hide above components using CSS?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Dipti Chhatrapati,

    There are no impacts on modern UI if you hide the site logo, Title and Page Title area.

  • It is not recommended but you can hide Site Logo and Title area sections from Modern UI there won't be any impacts for hiding. In SharePoint Modern Pages have header image banners in all modern pages and they needs a background image or text, it takes almost 40% of the page, and wen can't remove that section using UI. So, you can hide that section or else If you want to turn this section On or OFF, it is possible using belo PnP PowerShell commands. Basically, it allows us to change the page layout from Article to Home. The homepage layout doesn't have a header image banner section.

    ### Remove the header image Banner Section.
    # Connect to the site
    Connect-PnPOnline https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/portal
    # List all pages, and find the id of the modern page
    Get-PnPListItem -List SitePages
    # Change layout from "Article" to "Home" to remove top banner
    Set-PnPListItem -List SitePages –Identity <id> -Values @{"PageLayoutType"="Home"}
    Thanks & Regards,
