server 2012 WDS - TFTP pxe-m0f exiting intel pxe rom. operating system not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • created a new WDS server on server 2012 pretty sure i have done it right

    and im receiving :
    pxe-m0f exiting intel pxe rom. operating system not found

    TFTP WDS errror

    FW is off
    DHCP is not on the same server, therefore no extra ordinary setup..
    Both Servers are on Vmware
    Have tested with a Standalone machine, same result

    Update:
    While waiting for the "Contacting server" to time out. if i then, add a new "boot image" "during" i get a momentary "hole" sending me to the boot menu now that is strange!!!!

    have tried all settings

    i got this working on a server 2008 r2 with no problems.

    what im i missing

    "Carpe Diem" does not mean "fish of the day."

  • Hi,

    I found a similar issue in following thread. Please see if the troubleshooting process helps:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/bd289a58-fa25-4d02-a531-e6e6762428b0/

    As the first reply said, Check the PXE Service Point and make sure that the extracted boot binaries from the boot image are resident (for either x86 or x64 boot images or both).

  • I have just tested the following:

    1 MDT2013-server --> Using this litetouch.wim for all servers

    1 Server2008R2 --> No problem with PXE-boot

    1 Server2012--> Specified error from the beginning of this thread

    1 Server2012R2 --> Specified error from the beginning of this thread

    So, the problem is with server 2012 and server2012R2 pxe boot. The only difference in the Interface is the Tab "TFTP". But i didn`t find a solution. Anybody who can test this out?

    Thx

  • To make sure the router/dhcp-server isn`t the problem, i installed a Microsoft-DHCP-server and did a pxe boot.

    Still same problem :

    So what to now?

  • On the windows server2012R2 i have enabled ALL windows deployment services-logs (including verbose and admin).

    I can see a lot of traffic between cliënt and host, but i don`t see errors or maybe the problem.

    Only this error :

    [WDSServer] [base\eco\wds\wdsmgmt\src\wdsdirectoryservicesusepolicy.cpp:306] Expression: , Win32 Error=0x2

    Anybody with an option with this kind of logging?

    Thx
