Outlook 2010 and Communicator 2007 Conversation History folder

    Question

  • My problem seems to differ from the normal one regarding the integration of these 2 products.

    I actually want to change how often Outlook saves conversations. If I have a conversation that spans several hours, as I frequently do, in my Outlook Conversation History folder I have several copies of the same conversation, saved at different points in time. All of them start at the same point, but when the conversation is saved it doesn't update the last one, but generates another copy.

    Is there a way to fix this? I only want 1 copy of each conversation.

    Thanks,

    Bill

  • Hi Bill,

    At least I can ensure you that, there is no such settings in registry will change this behavior, I've confirmed this with the Communicator specialist, and the conversation history actually are created by the Exchange Server, and Outlook receive the conversation history as a separate message.

    You may want to confirm this by your own:

  • Hi Bill,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    As we can see, there is no such option available in either Outlook or Office Communicator to change the frequency of the saving behavior.

    And I agree with you that it will be more clear if we only have the single conversation history being saved for each dialogue. For now, click here to send your feedback to the Product Team and Development Team. Hope this feature will be updated in the future release.

  • Hi Max;

    I unmarked this as answered, because I'm not sure we've got it.

    I realize that neither user interface has what I'm looking for. I'd like to know if there's a registry key that can be added or modified to change this behavior.

  • I'm going to confirm the registry settings when I get back to work Monday (can't do it from here), but I'll take this as an answer. I'll discuss this with our Exchange Administrators soon.

    Max, thank you very much for the assistance.
