  • Question

  • Upgrade from Moss 2007 to SharePoint 2010.

I tried the following but still get the above error.

    - Service application was recreated

    - Product repair was tried

At a lost here.  Any ideas what else can be tried to get the metadata service up an running?

  • Hi dm80,

Could you tell us how did you activate the MetadataWebService.svc?

Try to run SharePoint configuration wizard, then you can create a new managed metadata service application, then check the effect.

Ensure you have the required permissions to perform this procedure. To create a managed metadata service application, you must be both a member of the Administrators group on the computer running the SharePoint Central Administration Web site, and a member of the Farm Administrators group.

In addition, you can try to use filemon and regmon to troubleshoot the issue.

    1.      Download and install FileMon and Regmon on your problematic SharePoint server,

    2.      Reproduce the issue, post the trace log into the forum for further analyze.

    RegMon for Windows v7.04

    FileMon for Windows v7.04

For more information about how to create a managed metadata service application, please refer to the following article:

    Hope this helps.
