no mail flow from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are performing an upgradev from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013

mail flows from 2013 to 2007 correctly

but when mails are sent from 2007 to 2013 the mails arent recived

I looked at message tracking and it seems there is not attempt from 2007 to send the mails to 2013

i have checked the frontend recive connector on 2013 and it has the exchange servers (and legacy) checked as well as echange authentication

  • Update the issue is resolved.

There was a secondary dns 8.8.8.8  configured on the 2007 exchange server. It interfered with the domain dns resolution. after it was cleared the mail flow is up and running.

thnx everybody and sorry, should have found it much earlier.

  • Hi

On the 2007 server can you telnet to the 2013 server on port 25?

Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Hi,

As far as I know, you just need to keep default setting on Exchange 2013 receiver connector, email should be sent from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.

Does this sender receiver any NDR message?

I would suggest you have a check in Queue Viewer, whether is this email stuck in queue. If this email is stuck in queue, what is the last error about it?

Could you provide the detail information about the mail flow of this email to use?(Remember remove private information):

    Get-Transportserver | Get-MessageTrackingLog -Sender User@domain.com -Recipients recipient@externaldomain.com -MessageSubject "Subject" | Sort-Object Timestamp

  • Hi,

Glad to see this question is solved now, here is a summary about it:

    Issue Symptom:

In a coexist environment with Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2013. Users in Exchange 2007 cannot send emails to Exchange 2013 users.

    Solution:

We can narrow down it with those steps:

    1. Check the permission on Exchange 2013 receive connector are default setting.

    2. Check whether is email stuck in queue, what is the last error about it?

    3. Check the DNS setting, make sure email could be resolved correct.

    Regards,

    Kyle Xu
