Download Windows Updates in Bulk?

    Question

  • I'm with a computer service company and we do format/re-installs on a regular basis.  Part of that process, as you know, is installing 100+ Windows updates for Windows 7 machines.

Isn't there a way I can download a "pack" of ALL of the updates so I can keep them on a Flash Drive and install them WITH EASE instead of having to manually download and install all 100+ updates for each and every computer?  Updates have been taking up SEVERAL HOURS lately for all of the machines we do a format/re-install on.

There has to be a better, faster way.

  • Hi bitzpc,

    Thank you for your question.

WSUS is Microsoft service production, it could download all updates from Internet, then Windows update on Windows client will be updated from WSUS, it will reduce network bandwidth for Internet, and this server will be in domain, we could refer to the following link to learn more about it:

  • Do you have a WSUS server on-site? That would be the supported way from Microsoft, instead of getting them across the Internet. You can of course download all of them individually but that would be very time consuming, each platform and bit-depth, every month...

  • I don't now, but I could look at setting one up if that works.  That isn't for machines on a Domain or something, is it?  :)

  • Check out http://www.wsusoffline.net/ , it seems like it might meet your requirement

Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
