Outlook 2010 Rooms listing defaults with Global Address List instead RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been asked to solve a "problem". We have a training room of about 12 PC's. When users need to set up new meetings and click the Rooms button, it shows up with the Global Address List with all emails/groups/rooms showing. Wouldn't it make sense for the Rooms button to load with the Rooms listing? I've tried installing all updates and SP1. Some machines load "All Rooms", others load with "Global Address List"  The rooms and equipment are set up correctly in Exchange. It seems like it would be a hard-coded thing that when you click "Rooms..." that the default address book would be "All Rooms - Exchange" instead of "Global Address List" with email addresses and email groups etc.

  • Hi,

This is a totally AD/Exchange issue per your description. Have you deleted the “All Rooms” address list From EMC before?

Please run the get-organization command in EMS to check if ResourceAddressLists : {All Rooms} is look good. (The bad one might be < All Rooms DEL: 54ae4b4a-bf48-412e-b3c0-17904cd245a7>)

If it would be the bad one, we need to correct the value for this object.

    > We can use ADSIEDIT to modify the msExchResourceAddressLists attribute on the Exchange Organization container object

    > CN=First Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=fourthcoffee,DC=com

    > Right Click on the Exchange Organization container CN=First Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=fourthcoffee,DC=com object in adsiedit.msc and locate the attribute msExchResourceAddressLists

    > Set the correct value for this attribute. The correct value looks like the below one.

    > CN=All Rooms,CN=All Address Lists,CN=Address Lists Container,CN=First Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=fourthcoffee,DC=com

Once we set the msExchResourceAddressLists attribute value correctly, we could see the All Rooms" address list while schedule a meeting request and click on the ROOMS button in Outlook.
