Drop off library RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone,

    When configuring a Drop Off Library in SP2013, is there way to have a non-answer as the defaulted selection in the drop down when using content types? Such as "Please Select..."

    At the moment, one of the values for a valid content type is selected on form load, and the business unit is concerned that users will just leave the default selected when submitting, rather than selecting the correct one.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Dean808,

    We can simply add an “Please Select...”option in the content types drop down list by using JavaScript code in Edit form page, but there is an onchange() function, that catch the content type choice, and redirect the page to relevant content type page. Since the “Please Select...” option cannot point to any other content type, the onchange() function cannot work well after change the option. And we are also not able to change the OOB function logic.

    As a workaround, I recommend you insert a Content Editor web part and paste the JavaScript code below to add text before the content type column to alert users to select content type:

    <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">

    $( document ).ready(function() {

        $("h3").width("150px");

        $("h3:contains('Content Type')").parent().parent().before('<div style= "color:red">Please select content type</div>');

    });

    </script>

    The result as below:
