User Profile Properties in SharePoint Workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are migrating SharePoint 2013 On Premise Application Portal to SharePoint Online.

One of the lists has SharePoint 2010 Workflow and in the workflow step, it is accessing User Profile properties such as Offce, Department etc.

User Profile is Synchronized in SharePoint Online also. Do we need to change in the below workflow step ?

  • I think you don't need to change this. This should work fine for now.

But, Microsoft likely to stop support for SharePoint Designer 2010 workflows in near future and as you have already moved to SharePoint Online then you can consider using Microsoft Flow instead of SharePoint Designer 2010 workflows which will make your workflows very easy.

There is no fix support end date for this but support end date for SharePoint Designer 2013 that is being used to create SharePoint Designer 2010 workflows is 07/14/2026.

You can check the product life cycle date using below link:

You can check some of the alternatives for this in below article:

SharePoint Designer 2016 and InfoPath 2016 in SharePoint Server 2016, What’re the alternatives?

  • Hi ghsajith,

You don't need to change this in SharePoint Online. I have a test, it also works in SP online. The workflow could access the User Profile without any issues.

    Best Regards,
