  • Hi,

Before you configure the portal site connection, you need to enable breadcrumb in corresponding site collection.

You need to open the site collection and edit the master page(seattle.master) in advanced model via SharePoint Designer 2013, shown as figure below.

More detailed steps about how to enable breadcrumb for your reference:

Then you access  Site Settings > Portal site connection, configure portal site connection, shown as figure below.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that you want know what the “Portal Site Connection” is and how to use it.

The Portal Site Connection is used to link one site collection to other one collection. If you have a site collection you want to link to, the site will be added to the global breadcrumb navigation for the current site collection after you configure a portal site connection.

  • Hi Dean,

I'm still confused. There is no breadcrumb or "Up Folder" navigation within SharePoint 2013. There was with SharePoint 2010 but not with SharePoint 2013.

Can you please show me a step-by-step guide that demonstrates the “Portal Site Connection” within SharePoint 2013.

    Many thanks
    Colin
