  • Hello,

With SharePoint designer , you can create workflow that move document with REST

    http://johnliu.net/blog/2014/2/19/using-sharepoint-designer-2013-workflow-to-copy-file-via-res.html

(use the MOVETO instead of the COPYTO shown in this post)

    Best regards, Christopher.

  • Hi Chaitanya,

To move a file from a library to a specific folder of another library, you can try to create two workflow to achieve it. The first workflow is to move files from the current library to another, another one is to move files to the folder in the library. You can add some conditions for the second workflow. When files are moved to this library, they will automatically run the second workflow and then move to the specific folder.

Firstly, to move a file to another library, you can use the "Copy" action to copy a document from current library to another library and then use the "Delete" action to delete the current item which have been copied in current library.

    1. Create a SPD workflow and use the "Copy Document” action.

    2. Click the first 'this list' in the text of the “Copy Document” action. On the Choose List Item dialog box, select ‘Current Item’.

    3. Click the second ‘this list’ in the text of the “Copy Document” action, and select the library where you want to move the files to from the drop-down list box.

    4. Add a “Delete Item” action below the “Copy Document” action. Click ‘this list’ in the text of the “Delete Item action”, select ‘Current Item’.

    5. Publish the workflow in the normal way.

Secondly, to move a file to a folder:

    1. Create a SPD workflow and choose “start workflow automatically when an item is created”.

    2. Use the "Update Item” action, click on the "this list" link and set the dropdown to Current Item.

    3. Then click Add, select the "Path and Name" field and click on the "...", type in your folder name followed by a “/”.

    4. Then click "Add or Change Lookup", select Current Item as the data source and the field as Name.

    5. The stringbilder should then show “yourfoldername/[%Current Item:Name]”. Click OK and publish the workflow in the normal way.

    6. When you run the workflow it will move the file to the specific folder.

You can also add some conditions so that the files will automatically move to the specific folder.

    Best regards,
    Allen Bai
