Can anyone point me to references on using the "Related links scope settings" that can be set on each site, under site settings? I cannot find useful information anywhere. Try googling it and hardly anything comes up.
Specifically I am trying to take two related sites, that are different site collections, in different web applications and content DB's and search only those two site collections from anywhere within those sites. I don't want to use "All Sites" because it will return info I am not looking for.
Is "Related Link Scope Settings" what I should be using? I can't get it to work, even after re-indexing. I just need a guide on this setting. Thanks.
My first thought would be to create a scope from central admin that includes the two sites. I would configure it similar to how I described it here but instead of a document library, specify the site itself.
Search scopes are being used in our environment and are fairly straightforward and well documented. They work very well.
However, I am trying to achieve this without having to set up a new scope and without having to involve a central administrator (me), so that site collection admins could potentially do this for their sites.
I am also searching for any documentation on the "Related link scope settings".
