  • Question

  • Hi,

I have enterprise office 365 a/c. I like to share calendar with external users who have outlook a/c. Is it possible that external user can add event in calendar and edit existing events also? If yes than how?

  • Hi,

You cannot directly give the permissions to the List such as Calendar to the external users.  You need to follow these steps.

    1. Share the team site with external user using "Share" link located on the right-most top as shown in the screenshot.

    2. Now your team site is shared with external user with read permissions.
    3. Go the Calender List settings and click on "Permissions for this List" link
    4. In the Permission Page, click on "Stop Inheriting Permissions" button in the Ribbon as shown in the below screenshot.

    5. Click on "Grant Permissions" button.  This will open "Share Calendar" dialog same as first screenshot.
    6. Enter the user and message.  Click on show more options to provide the permissions.  This time select "Edit", so that the external user able to add and edit the events.
    7. This reason why we are sharing external user for the site as read-only because user should have atleast read permission for the site and external user can be added to any list with additional permissions such as edit by breaking inheritance.

    Hope this answers your query.
