Microsoft XML Core Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

A Server Security Report is showing some of our Windows Server 2008 servers have MSXML 4 SP2 installed.

From my knowledge, Microsoft is no longer support XML Parser and XML Core Services.

Should we download and apply MSXML 6 to the server?

I am not very familiar to this technology.  What should we be aware of before doing anything?  We need to keep the Windows 2008 servers up for another few months.  should we leave it the way it is?

    Please advise.

    Many thanks.

    1 "MSXML 6.0 (MSXML6) Supported Operating System
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack

    So it not support W2008.

if there is no affect to your w2008 ,we can igore it .Because if you install it ,i am not sure if there is known issue happen meanwhile there is no hotfix available for server 2008 to fix this known issue. If we still want to install MSXML 4sp2 or sp3,can you backup the server first, By the way w2008 will end of support on 1/14/2020, so many companies are doing plan to migrate or in-place upgrade w2008 to a high server version.
