SharePoint authentication using ADFS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I am facing an issue while authenticating users against ADFS, below is the scenario.

    1. Configured ADFS and configured required settings in ADFS as below

    - Realm

    - Requested Claims (UPN, Email and Role)

    - Security Algo as SHA256

    - Endpoint URL as -

    2. Also configured SharePoint for Trusted Identity Provider as ADFS

    - Federation service endpoint url -

    - Installed Token-signing certificate

    - Configured web application to use ADFS as trusted indentity provider

Looks like all set from both SharePoint and ADFS site, however whenever i try to access portal in SharePoint, it prompts me for credentials and after that it gets redirected to ADFS URL but never comes back with any token.

Note: My SharePoint site is on http, however load balancer is configured with https offload.

Can anyone please guide on what is wrong or am i missing anything.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Thanks.... ________________ Baba (MCTS, MCPD)

  • Hello All,

Able to fix the issue, below is the Root cause and solution

Shared claims from ADFS side are from ADFS V1 and configuration from SharePoint was to accept claims from ADFS V2; so updated SharePoint side to consume claims from ADFS V1.

    Thanks.... ________________ Baba (MCTS, MCPD)
