Windows Media Player and SharePoint

    Question

  • Hi there,

I'm looking for a way to make Windows Media Player get images from a SharePoint 2013 O365 Picture Gallery.

Is there a way this can be done?

The media player will be shown, through a laptop, on one of our TVs, to display the content. I've also written some code that will pause/play the media player at different times during the day (so it can sync the newly added images) by simulating keystrokes via "tasks".

I know it can be done through OneDrive but the requirement is to use SharePoint.

    Best regards

    Chris

  • Hi ChrisNT,

I am not very understanding of you, how do you make Windows Media Player get images from OneDrive?

Take a look at the following article about how to embed Video and Audio files in the SharePoint Environment:

    http://www.nothingbutsharepoint.com/2009/03/09/embedding-video-and-audio-files-in-the-sharepoint-environment-aspx/

If I misunderstanding your issue, feel free to let me know.

    Best regards,

    Lisa Chen

  • Hi Lisa,

    Thanks for answering.

No, the WMP will not be embedded in SharePoint. It should only find the images from the "picture gallery" that exists in SharePoint. The Player itself will be displayed on a TV in our office. So the SharePoint gallery will only be used for storing the images.

    Is that more clear?

    Sincerely

    Chris

  • Try this if it works:

    > Inside your picture folder, create a folder "SharePoint"

    > Sync it with your SharePoint Images folder using OneDrive.

Point your Windows Media player to pick images from this folder.

I hope this will help you out

  • Hi ChrisNT,

Try to map the SharePoint online picture library to Network Drive.

Then change the Picture Library Locations to Network Drive.

  • Hi Lisa,

No it did not work. It's too bad that SharePoint is so limited to be honest
