Unable to delete data files in Outlook 2010

Question
-
I have 2 different email username (same domain) on outllok.
I have just changed my outlook emails from POP3 to IMAP.
On the left handside, it had 4 accounts: 2x the POP3 and 2x the IMAP, even though I had deleted the emails before changing it to IMAP in the Email tab in account settings.
I then noticed after the amendment that there was the 4 emails in the Data Files tab.
I managed to remove one of the POP3 (which removed the correct in Outlook), but the other one (POP3) is set to default, so I am unable to remove it.
So, my question is, how do I delete the default???
If I highlight the one I want to be default, the Default option greys out.
I hope all this makes sense.

Hi,
Thank you for using Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, I would suggest you can consider to create a new outlook profile refers to:
To create a new email profile in Outlook 2010:
- Click Start > control panel>User Accounts> Mail
- In the Mail Setup dialog box, click Show Profiles.
- On the General tab, under When starting Microsoft Office Outlook, use this profile, click Prompt for a profile to be used, and then click Add.
- In the Profile Name box, type the name that you want to use for the new email profile, and then click OK.
- In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
- Click the appropriate server type for your new email account, and then click Next.
- Type your account information in the required boxes, and then click Next.
- Click Finish, and then click OK.
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If anything is unclear or if there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

Hi,
After you create new profile, don’t remove the old one.
And backup .ost file:
Introduction to Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost)
Emails won’t be lost.
Signatures need to be recreated.
Best regards

Hi Rex (sorry for the dealy!)
I have tried your steps, but the Outlook Data File still appears on the left handside.
Also, like the profile before the notification of a new email does not appear - the desktop alert nor the envelop on my system tray (I have double checked the settings, they are all ok!)
This is frustrating, but I really DO appreciate your help.
Isnt there anyway of getting rid of everything and then starting again???
This is the 3rd profile I have set up.

Hi,
It seems the issue might be caused by host end not Outlook client. Please get support from the host service manager.
Best regards

Hi Rex
I have spoken to the people responsibe to hosting and they said that the problem is not their end but with Outlook.
I have done the repair facility on my outlook and there is no change.
I have noticed on mircodoft literature that I need a Microsoft Exchange or Exchange type tp have ALL functions, how do I get this?
Also, with POP (which is NOT exchange) I was able to get the notification and the small yellow envelope, but not in IMAP.
I didnt think this would be stressful...

Hi Don
Thanks a million again.
Quick question, with my IMAP on the left handside where all my email folders are, there is another one called Outlook Data File, how do I get rid of this???
Also, when I reply to an email, the email is sent, but it doesnt appear in my Sent folder, it appears in my name in my inbox.
Thanks in advance, you are a star - I am just glad I am getting somewhere with this IMAP outlook situation.
UPDATE: In addition to the above, some of my sent emails are NOT appearing in the sent folder (I cannot find them anywhere!)
Don??? Rex??? Anyone??? Please help!!!
Thanks in advance.
