  • Can SQL Server send SMS to mobile number.

    There is nothing built-in for this, but I guess that you could write a CLR stored procedure for the task if you are really desperate.

    What is your use case?

    Not directly. You could use sp_send_dbmail to send an email message to an email to SMS gateway for your need.

    OLE automation should be avoided for new development as it is unmanaged code and will not run in Azure SQL Database. The SQLCLR approach Erland mentioned or sending via sp_send_dbmail to an SMS gateway (available with most major carriers, e.g. 9999999999@mobilecarrier.net) are better solutions, IMHO.
