is manage user query able for powerquery from excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

    I wish to query manage users from PWA here is my URL.  I don't seem to be able to query it no matter what option I chose https://xxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/yyyy/_layouts/15/PWA/Admin/ManageUsers.aspx?show=all.  My goal is to not export to excel each time when I do the power query to compare active resource with my other active directory.  I know this is not in the scope of project web app. but if you know please share your knowledge.  Thank you.

  • Hello,

    You could get this information from the Reporting API: {pwaUrl}/_api/ProjectData/Resources()?$Filter=ResourceNTAccount ne null

  • Paul,

    Thanks for the response. I'm a non programmer user and wish to clarify the steps.  In the excel.

    Get data --> web URL --> I entered what you suggested below

    https://mywebaddress/_api/ProjectData/Resources()?$Filter=ResourceNTAccount ne null

    and received "Unable to connect" Access to the resource is forbidden".

    I also tried both Get Data --> URL and Get Data -->  OData Feed, same result "Unable to connect"

    I have super account to PWA.  What did I do wrong?

    Thanks,

  • Hello,

    These steps will work in Excel: Data > Get Data > From Other Sources > From OData Feed. If prompted for credentials, select Organizational Account then enter the details.

  • Paul,

    I did what you suggested, below is what I got.  Is there something else I must do before this.  Is this the correct API entry: www.mywebsite/_api/ProjectData/Resources()?$Filter=ResourceNTAccount

    I do have full access to PWA as an admin.

    Either the steps I did is wrong or the URL is incorrect.  Also is the ne null part of the URL or oversight?

  • Paul,

    There is something wrong with my excel.  I was able to do it in powerbi.

  • Curious question Paul,

    Any idea why I received error when I try to get data from excel.

    https://mywebaddress/_api/ProjectData/Resources()?$Filter=ResourceNTAccount ne null

    Same URL I can access from power bi from the same computer.  My manager used the same URL he could access from get data in excel.  I have built and merged everything in excel already, and wish to connect from excel to PWA using this URL https://mywebaddress/_api/ProjectData/Resources()?$Filter=ResourceNTAccount ne null for continuity. Was just wondering was what the root cause.

    Googling around, but didn't quite find the answer and whether my excel is lacking any drive.

    Thanks,

    NLuu
