Executives Group not being able to view Project details view RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone confirm the following beheavior?

With default security settings (categories and groups), a user belonging to the Executives group can not see Project details view.

Is these a bug or extra settings should be applied to the security group?

    Thanks in advance

  • By default, the Executive group is controlled by the My Organizations category.  Looking at that category, I see all of the Project Details views checked.

Just to check terminology, are you referring to the drilldown view within Project Center or the Project Details Pages available when selecting a project in the top left of the Project Center interface?

What do your executives experience when clicking on any project?

  • I don't see this. Executives have Global permissions for

    View Business Intelligence Link
    View OLAP Data
    View Project Center
    View Project Schedule Views
    View Project Timesheet Line Approvals
    View Resource Availability
    View Resource Center
    View Resource Plan

Perhaps your security settings have been changed somewhere?

  • Thank you Andrew for your quick response.

I am referring to Project Center drilldown views. Our user are getting "Permissions denied" when a member of the Executives group, from the Project Center view tries to click in the Project Name, in order to access detailed project schedule view.

  • Thank you Jack,

I do confirm the same setting for the security groups for Global permissions. I see these issue more related to category "My Organization". Do you agree?

  • It's tough to troubleshoot security without looking at it....check the My Organization category....is it set to show all projects or only selected projects?

  • Category settings is: All projects

In the scenario being tested, the user had previously Executives membership and is member of the Enterprise Resource Pool, not member of the Team members group.

  • Ok - this may be a bug I've read about before.  Try selecting the "New Projects" option in the Global settings for the Executive and see if that resolves the issue.

  • make sure 'My Organization' Category has 'Open Project' permission for Executives. This fixed it for us.
