Task Start Date are inconsistent between the project and resouces's task page RRS feed

• Question

• I am having an interesting issue, i have been trying
to figure out this for a long time and i have not been able to figure it out.
whenever a resource changes the Start date of the task in the Task page in
PWA to a later date it never changes in the project it creates a split. an
example the resource goes to pwa and changes the task start date from 7/01/2019
to 7/08/2019 and its approved and publish you can see change in PWA

but if the project manager open the project in
Microsoft project the start date shows the original start date which in this
case is 7/01/2019 and in the Gantt chart a split is created in the task.

this only happens when you are changing the task start
date to a later date if you change it to an earlier date it changes both in PWA
and Microsoft project. Has anyone encounter this issue before any help would be
greatly appreciated.

• Hi,

if a resource is changing Start Date, this will change the assignment start date. If assignment start date is earlier than task start date, task start date is adjusted accordingly. If assignment start date is later than task start date, no change will be applied to the task. There may be other resources be assigned to the task, so not the whole task will be moved.

Resource can see the behavior in Tasks.aspx. The task is not moved, but planned work for the task is set to 0 on days between task Start Date and assignment Start Date:

You can see the assignment start date when applying a usage view. Delay is displayed in column "Assignment Delay". In Gantt chart the display is shown with dots, if there are no other assignments.

This is the standard behavior.

Regards
Barbara

• Hi,

it may be odd in your case. But if you think of more than one assignment for a task, it makes sense. You don't want to move a whole task, if one resource decides to start later?
