  • DJ Huff,

Yes Project can be frustrating and I'm sorry it's causing you such consternation.

Your problem description is a little confusing but let's see if we can help identify some potential problem areas.

    1. You say you have auto-schedule on but do all tasks, including summary lines, show the auto-schedule icon in the Task Mode field? If not, adjust so all tasks are auto-scheduled

    2. You say you are changing subtask start dates but doing so directly, (i.e. entering a date into the Start and/or Finish fields), will automatically set a constraint). All tasks should be linked in a logical sequence such that the task start dates are determined by network logic.

    3. Do the tasks you are having problems with have either a non-zero value in the % Complete field or the Actual Start field? That will "lock" the start date.

    4. Do the problem tasks have resources assigned that may be driving the dates?

Is Project 2016 fully updated? It should be winproj.exe version 16.0.4588.1000

Let's start with the above and see what it yields.
