How does list data flow amongst databases for Project Workspace Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am working on Project Server 2010 and I have a query related to Project Workspace site. As we all know that a project is associated with its site which contains lists like 'Risks', 'Issues', and 'Deliverables'. I want to know how to find data entered by any user in any of these lists w.r.t. their projects from the database. I am aware that the data gets saved in Content DB and then it is also available in Project Server Dbs, but what I want to know if that in which tables does these entries are saved and how data flows from content DBs to Project Server DBs.

Thanks, Sumit Gupta SharePoint Consultant MCP, MCTS, CCNA

  • Hi there,

There event handlers that fire on the issues and risks lists on the Project Sites that push the SharePoint lists data (default fields only) into the Project Server reporting database. You are best to use the Views on the Reporting database, for SharePoint data the views will start with MSP_Wss. For example the issues can be found in the following view:

    MSP_WssIssue_OlapView

If you are looking to access other custom lists / custom columns from project sites (or other SharePoint sites for that matter), take a look at CPS' SharePoint ReportLink: http://www.cps.co.uk/What-We-Do/Pages/SharePoint-ReportLink.aspx. When configured this will push all data specified in the configuration into a custom database / custom tables in the Project Server reporting database to allow easy T-SQL reporting.

    Hope that helps
