  • POWER PIVOT

I’m not able to complete the following exercise with Power Pivot and I do not understand why.

I want to create a list of tasks by projects.  I know that all the information for a so simple list is in the tasks feed  but, I want to do the exercise to understand the basic of Power Pivot.

    1. I create an OData connection to project: https://xxxxxxxx/pwa/_api/ProjectData/Projects?$select=ProjectId,ProjectName,ProjectStartDate

    1. I create an Odata connection to Task:

    https:// xxxxxxxx /sites/pwa/_api/ProjectData/Tasks?$select=ProjectId,TaskId,TaskName

    1. I use Power Pivot to link the table together using ProjectId.
    2. From Power Pivot, I create a Pivot Table in Excel.

I expect to get a list in like the followoing:

    Project A

                    Task A

                    Task B

    Project B

                    Task 1

                    Task 2

But I get, the following wich is a list of the tasks for all projets associate with every projects.

    Project A

                    Task A

                    Task B

                    Task 1

                    Task 2

    Project B

    Task A

                    Task B

                    Task 1

                    Task 2

I have tried this from two different station.  What do I missed?

  • Hi Mermoz,

Add a "cost" or "Work" column to your Task OData feed, and put that field in the Values field of the pivot table.

    Hope this helps. Kind regards,

    Erik
