roaming signature at office 365 tenant RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guy's,

Any idea on how we can disable the upcoming Feature of Microsoft that will enable the roaming signature at office 365 tenant level?

We are using a 3rd party software and we will keep on using it.

    Thanks

  • I doubt the feature will prevent you from using third-party solutions if you want to, but we will have to wait and see what Microsoft makes of it.

  • Thanks for the reply,When this update release, the 3rd party software vandor must come up with en update otherwise their sofware wont works.

We have 1000 laptops so we have to install the vendor update or setup the registry settings to disable this at client side.

Why Microsoft dont give the Tenants the freedom to enable this at the Tenant?

  • Hi,

Yes, according to this article: Roaming Signatures for Outlook for Windows

It’s possible that an organization doesn’t want Outlook to use roaming signatures. In this scenario, you can disable the feature by updating this DWORD value in the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Setup\DisableRoamingSignaturesTemporaryToggle
    1

Set the value to 1 to disable roaming signatures. If the value doesn’t exist or is set to 0, Outlook uses roaming signatures. Microsoft views the registry value as a holding measure until they do the work to allow third-party add-ins to interact more gracefully with roaming signatures. When that API is delivered, you can expect Microsoft to deprecate this setting.

  • Hi Joyce,

    Thanks for your reply,

I already saw that document, but dont understand the last part that you have also mentioned:

"you can expect Microsoft to deprecate this setting" What about the companies that they dont use a 3rd party API but at the same time they dont want to use the Microsoft Roaming Signatures? I mean If this registry get deprecated what good does this registry key?

  • Hi,

Changing the value in the registry is the only way to disable this feature currently.
