Erro ao reinstalar MS SQL 2000 standard RRS feed

    Estou tentando reinstalar o SQL server 2000 em um windows 2003 server através do CD de instalação do sql.

    Ao clicar sobre o programa setupsql.exe em x86\setup ocorre o erro:

    An internal read has occurred on C:\DOCUMENTS.INS Unable to load installation instructions.

    Error 703.

    Pesquisando na internet achei problema semelhante mas ao instalar o SP1 do SQL 2000.

    Ao rodar o instalador antes de dar esse erro aparece um aviso de que o SQL 2000 sp2 e abaixo não têm suporte desta versão do windows. Use o SP3 após a instalação do SQL Server 2000

    Solucionei o problema copiando um arquivo Setup.Ins contido no CD para o diretório raiz C:\ e alterando o seu nome para DOCUMENTS.INS

    Resolução que achei no google:

    1. Open a command prompt while logged on with the domain account being used during the install
    2. From the Command prompt enter DIR /X you should see output including the 8.3 names like this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>dir /X
    Volume in drive C has no label.
    Volume Serial Number is F89D-FE48

    Directory of C:\Documents and Settings\<user>

    12/11/2005 03:56 PM <DIR> .
    12/11/2005 03:56 PM <DIR> ..
    12/11/2005 04:26 PM <DIR> Desktop
    12/10/2005 05:02 PM <DIR> FAVORI~1 Favorites
    12/03/2005 09:01 AM <DIR> MYDOCU~1 My Documents

    If the 8.3 naming is missing locate the following registry key:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation
    the value for NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation should be 0 to enable 8.3 naming, if set to 1 it is disabled, reset value to 0

    3. Login with another administrative account and locate the previous user profile, C:\Documents and Settings\<user> then delete that users directory structure.
    4. Login with the previous accoutn and repeat step 2, 8.3 names should now appear.

    Pode ser uma alternativa em relação ao sugerido pelo amigo Spitzmann :)



    Alternate workaround is to reset both user and system enviroment variables to 8.3 named path, but would have to be reversed to maintain domain consistancy.
