ReFS Partition on Windows Server 2012 R2 will not extend filesystem

  • I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 VM with an ReFS partition.   It was running low on space so we decided to extend it. The Partition extended fine but the actual Volume/FileSystem is still reporting the old size.

We have tried using the "extend filesystem" command in disk part but it fails with the error:

    Virtual Disk Service error:
There is not enough usable space for this operation.

List Volume command shows the volume at the extended size, detail volume shows the Volume capacity at the non-extended size.

I saw another post that said to try extending it just a bit further but that does not work either.

Any suggestions on getting the filesystem extended?
