How do we prevent random user profile from getting created locally on File Server (Windows 2016)

  • Hi,

We have Server 2016 running DFSR.  I don't understand why random user profiles get created locally to the server.  We are not using roaming profile.  We use folder redirections for MyDocs, Desktop & Favorites.  How do we prevent this?

  • Hi!

You could use a Group policy to remove the local profile at logoff.

    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\User Profiles

Setting: Delete cached copies of roaming profiles

Or you could use the following Group Policy:

    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\User Profiles

Setting: Prevent Roaming Profile changes from propagating to the server

    Best regards,
