Migration from Windows Server Standard 2019 to Windows Server Datacenter 2019 RRS feed

  • Pergunta

  • We have acquired a VLSC key to install a Windows Server Datacenter 2019 in order to legalize a fisical server and after that transfer all virtual Servers from Windows Server Standard 2019 to Datacenter 2019

We have issue the following command

    1 - dism.exe /online /Get-CurrentEdition

(we have the confirmation that the active Windows Server is Standard 2019)

    2 - dism.exe /online /Get-TargetEditions

(we got the confirmation that this version of Server 2019 Standard can be migrated to Windows 2019 Datacenter)

    3- dism.exe /online /Set-Edition:ServerDatacenter /AcceptEula /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX-XXXXX

(we have inserted the MAK key since we don't have a KMS key, however the process is aborted with error 1168 and doesn't conclude)

We have tested the above procedures with an KMS key that a friend of mine lend to me, but it only reaches 10% and then aborts.

Can anyone help solve this problem?

    Best Regards.

  • Nélio,

    Try the command:

    slmgr /ipk<product key>

    slmgr ato

If it doesn't work, does the current version have internet access or is it a evaluation version?

  • Hi,

We have tried that but it didn't work either.

We have solved by changing the 2019 Standard to evaluation

With DISM we use a KSM key and after that we reboot the machine.

Iit started as Datacenter without key, then we have inserted the VLSC MAK key and activated.

    Best Regards.
