Windows XP Service pack 3 DOWNLOAD

    Pergunta

  • Is there a link, or when will Windows XP Service pack 3 be available for download for Home users? I read that it was available from April 29th, but I haven't seen it on Windows update, or the Microsoft website.

I am sure I am not the only one that is looking forward to see what advantages the new service pack will bring.

  • Releases of things such as service packs are typically made around 10:00 PDT.  Europe will not see this update until late this evening.

  • Thank's for that. I will try later. Do you know if this will be available on the normal Windows Update later today, or will I have to look in the Microsoft Windows Downloads section.

Hum...SP3 must not be typical.  It's past that time.

  • Hi Chris,

How does this affect folks who already slip streamed sp3 build 5512 RTM. Do we have anything to worry about

your issue you discovered concerning windows sp3 and Vista sp1? Are you going to change the service pack build?

    Please let me know!

Thanks for your help - you've done a great job!

From what I can tell, they aren't changing the actual code of the build.  They are just holding off on the release until they change the "filters" of the windows update site.

What exactly do you base that on?  The hash checks with the 5512 build.

Evning Kui the version reffered to is the 5512 RTM with the RTA bits not removed. This is the release to manufactor version. As people await the RTU version. The MSFT team is ensuring that

    1. Update does not offer Sp3 to the Dynamic RMS system and causing loss of data. To properly id the various versions of DRMS. Not every one updates there versions of software. For example how many installations of Office 98 still are installed out there? *Probably not as many as used to be but this is an example* Good reason to at least be some what more current then people get use to.

    2. A Hot fix enabling usage of Sp3 is working properly. as recently updated in the announcement why Sp3 was delayed/ *Either removing the conflict KB but also provifing a proper fix path*

    3. Internally reviewing the Sp3 Ready to release to the Update portion of Microsoft.

This is not quite a round table of review but s stringant process Microsoft puts it self through. So review isnt not going to be quick unless they simply remove the offending patch and add a new on afwards. Look at your windows update log and see hopw many rules WSUS must go through in updating a system. You cant just through another patch into the mix with out considering the internation languages base and such.

What if the hot fix they introduced messed up specialized installations from Via? A minority but growing base of Installations out there. What if a undiscovered bug in User interface fix messed with Nvidias Chipsets? The problem grows in porpotion adding new demension when you are trying to address a specific code base such as Dynamic RMS. Which is why I cannot wait until minwin is released into the wild. What if a processor chjip company was able to caculated hashes in one clock cycle? Or switching portions of the calling library were at least coded into the microcode of new processors? You see how big the problem can get. Minwin would help up poor xp users run abit more reliably. *just hinting at this ya'all'

I would not want to be the next ping of death discovery person. But it would be fun to be in the annuals of history as such or similar. Hey Mom , just teasing. Cheers
