Virtual XP not starting

-
Hi,
Have been using Virtual XP for 12 mths on a WIN 7 Pro laptop. Suddenly will not boot up. Initially indicates that integration features not enabled. Continue without but goes no further. Tried system restore but comes up with an error. Tried removing VM & XP & reinstalling. Installation reaches a certain point & brings up the integration feature warning. Checked VM settings & integration features enabled. Not sure what has changed nor how to fix the problem.
Regards
Mike

Hi,
It would seem that one of these processes is getting "hung up" in shutting down when you exit so it can't properly restart again.
Here are some steps that you can try:
1.Forcing the virtual pc, vpc.exe ,to close by ending it under Processes in Task Manager and then forcing Windows XP mode to close by click end process.
2.Reboot virtual xp again.

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the reply. Virtual XP is not on a separate partition, I did look at doing this but diskmgmt.msc opens a window but indicates it is loading disc configuration information & sits there indefinitely. The computer suddenly seems to have other issues like not recognising usb drives when plugged in & hanging when trying to perform operations. Necessary to reboot to continue.

Hi Vivian, Thanks for the reply. I have tried forcing XP to close in Task manager & rebooting but no change. Uninstalled XP & reloaded but same issue. Tried creating another virtual machine & reloading XP but same issue. As indicated in a reply to Andrew the computer seems to have other problems. I have run a full file scan with Kaspersky but nothing uncovered.

Hi Vivian, The computer is slow to perform some functions. Start up normal but shutdown sometimes very slow. Sometimes usb devices not recognised or very slow to recognise. Looked at partitioning hard drive & installing XP on a separate partition. Disk management tool opens but won't gather information to display. Currently trying to create a system image in case the computer crashes but can take hours if at all to find backup devices. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Seems your system doesn't have a good performance. It is suggested that you back up your important data and perform an in-place upgrade. Perform a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer.
how to perform a in-place upgrade
After doing that, you can update any problems if it still exists.
