Script to change IE Security Setting in the Local Intranet Zone (Group Policy)

    Question

  • I am going to create a SharePoint web page which click on the link and run the an .EXE application that needs changing the security setting "Initialize and script ActiveX not marked as safe for scripting" from "Disable" to "Enable" in the Local Intranet Zone

All the user computers are in a domain environment, is it safe to Enable the setting?

    Thank you

  • Never.  Never try to distribute executables directly.  Be sure EXE is signed and have the user download the EXE to run.

You issue is not a scripting issue.

  • For Enable the ActiveX, I mean to launch ms word or Excel from the SharePoint web page in the Local Intranet.

    Thanks,

  • This cannot be done.  You must have installed and configure SharePoint to use the web based components. Post I SharePoint forum to find ways to do this.
