Exchange Active sync not working in office 2016. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

We have Exchange server 2016. Whenever I configure outlook by active sync method in Office 2016. It works for few days and starts prompting for password, even if user gives correct password it wont take.

But if I configure IMAP it works fine. Even Active sync in office 2010 works fine for users.

Only problem occurs when i configure Active sync in Outlook 2016.

    Kindly suggest.

    Thanks..

  • Hi ShabazAhmedRx,

Please test activesync in EXRCA and see if any errors shown.

It's more likely to be an Outlook issue since Office 2010 working fine, do you have any other App that can connect to Exchange? Test if you get the same issue with these Apps.

Also, have a look at the ActiveSync directory in IIS and make sure it has basic auth enabled and nothing else. Then in the middle pane, click on 'Http redirects' and make sure it is not redirecting anywhere.

Then check SSL and ensure Client Certs = ignore.

  • Hi Shabaz AhmedRx,

Does the issue occur with a specific user or with everyone?

If it's for one user, go to ADUC-Users, find the user and check the property-Account, tick "Do not need Kerberos preauthentification", test with the commands again.

  • Hi,

It's suggested to enable Basic authentification.

How about run the command without "-mailboxcredential"?

    Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity -ClientAccessServer E15MB2

And could you test configuring Activesync with other Mail APPs? Such as build-in APP named "MAIL" on your device.

    Here is an example:https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201729

  • Hi,

Sorry, I should tell you to create the test user earlier...Here are steps:

    1. Run EMS as administrator

    2. Go to the script folder with following command:

    cd $scripts

    3. Then run the script, enter the password and press Enter:

     .\new-TestCasConnectivityUser.ps1 -OU domain.com/users

    4.  Run the command to test activesync:

    Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity -ClientAccessServer E15MB2

And could you test his account in EXRCA:https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/Eas/input

  • Hi,

I just review this thread and find I misunderstood something. (Sorry for wasting your time doing so many tests)

You are not talking about configuring Exchange mailbox on mobile device, right?

Are you setting up those accounts like this?

If yes, I have to mention that Activesync is used to connect Outlook to the services such as Outlook.com to access email, calendar, contacts, and tasks. Using Exchange ActiveSync to connect Outlook 2013/2016 to an Exchange Server is not supported.

Please re-create your profile without selecting "Manaully setup" and it will use Autodiscover to connect to Exchange server.
