EMET 3.0 - possible to hide EMET notifier GUI while still enabling it to write to event log?

    Question

  • The new EMET notifier feature in EMET 3.0 is a great addition.  However- is it possible configure it to only log events to the event log and supress the user interface (task bar icon and balloon popups)?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Creating a DWORD registry key called NotifierLogLevel under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\EMET and setting it to 0 will disable both logging of events and notifications on the task bar. These two are currently coupled together but we will likely separate them in a future release.

Please note that, the task bar notifications will only pop up for the most critical of events: stopping an exploit, while the event logs are more verbose and will log most EMET actions (albeit with different log levels).

    Thanks,

  • Please do. It would be great to be able to suppress the taskbar icon yet retain Event Viewer logging capabilities. The two should really be managed separately.

Thanks for all of your hard work!

  • Yes, please do separate them! I like to keep the system tray clean, yet still want EMET to perform logging.

  • Please separate these two functions and allow us to suppress the system tray icon and pop-ups.

    Thank you.

  • It would be awesome if unchecking "Tray Icon" in the settings on EMET would actually work :D Why is it there?
